Welcome to Recipes Win!

Hi, I’m Karen. I’m so glad you’re here.

I’ve always loved food, but cooking didn’t come naturally at first.

My first real homemade meal? A total disaster.

I followed the recipe exactly, hoping for something special. But when I pulled it out of the oven, everything was off. The flavors didn’t work. The texture wasn’t right.

My family tried to be kind, but I could tell it wasn’t good.

That moment stuck with me. I didn’t want cooking to feel frustrating. I didn’t want to rely on takeout.

I wanted to learn.

So I kept trying. I played with ingredients. I figured out what worked and what didn’t. And somewhere in that process, I found joy in cooking.

A few summers ago I took this photo while walking through a sunflower field in Kansas.

I didn’t have a blog yet. Just a head full of ideas, food-stained notebooks, and a quiet hope that maybe I could build something of my own.

I stood there with the sun on my face thinking maybe it was time. Maybe I should finally start sharing what I’ve learned.

That’s when Recipes Win started to feel real.

Fun Facts About Me

• When I’m tired or don’t feel like cooking, I make eggs. Fried, scrambled, or tucked into warm bread, it always works.

• I once made banana bread with salt instead of sugar. My kids tried to be polite, but their faces said everything.

• The smell of garlic and onions in a hot pan makes me feel at home. It’s how most of my dinners begin.
